Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Inpatient Cardiology team on the night shift. In this role, the NP/PA will work in collaboration with cardiologists to manage patients admitted for cardiac conditions. Responsibilities include performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, developing treatment plans, and prescribing medications or therapies. The provider will play a vital role in overnight patient care, supporting continuity and timely clinical decision-making.
Schedule:
Night shift position
Includes rotating weekends and holidays as needed
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and monitor cardiology inpatients overnight in collaboration with supervising physicians
Perform physical exams, obtain medical histories, and assess cardiopulmonary status
Order and interpret lab work, ECGs, imaging, and other diagnostics
Initiate and adjust treatment plans, including prescribing medications within scope
Respond to acute changes in patient conditions, initiate management, and consult cardiology staff as appropriate
Provide detailed documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care
Participate in patient handoffs at the beginning and end of each shift
Support quality improvement initiatives and clinical protocols in the cardiology service line
Job Requirements:
Education:
Nurse Practitioner: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
Physician Assistant: Graduate of an accredited PA program
Experience:
Required: No prior experience necessary
Preferred: 1 2 years of experience in cardiology, internal medicine, or inpatient care
Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong clinical assessment and decision-making ability
Ability to work independently during night shift hours while collaborating with on-call providers as needed
Proficient in electronic health records and clinical documentation
Licensure/Certification:
Nurse Practitioner: Current MO NP license required
Physician Assistant: Current MO PA license required
BLS certification required within 90 days of hire Organization
