Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Hardware Design Test Engineer. The Hardware Design Test Engineer provides technical expertise in modern electronic hardware design, development, testing, and system implementation. This role supports interdisciplinary teams by translating technical requirements into practical design solutions, executing system testing, and resolving complex engineering challenges. The engineer plays a critical role in defining hardware interactions and interfaces, developing robust designs that meet mission needs, and ensuring system reliability through rigorous evaluation and testing processes. Areas of focus may include reliability engineering, hardware/system design, systems integration, and evaluation of electronic and mechanical components.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field (e.g., Operating systems software, Electronics, Communications analysis and design, Digital engineering, RF engineering, Test engineering, Networking, Mechanical engineering, Electronic engineering, Physics, Or a closely related field)
10 years of relevant experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree
1-20 years of relevant experience in hardware design, testing, or system engineering
Proficiency in designing and developing electronic components and hardware systems
Ability to define and manage requirements and interfaces across multiple technical domains
Experience developing and executing system test procedures
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to serve as a technical liaison across disciplines
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
Master's degree in a related field (may substitute for Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience)
Ph.D. in a related field (may substitute for Bachelor's degree and 7 years of experience)
Experience with RF systems, digital/analog circuit design, or embedded systems
Familiarity with industry-standard tools for simulation, schematic capture, and test (e.g., MATLAB, LabVIEW, Altium, SPICE)
Experience in system-level integration and reliability testing in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability environments
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, develop, and test electronic hardware systems and components
Define and manage system requirements, including interactions and interfaces among subsystems
Develop hardware design solutions using industry-standard engineering methodologies
Create, document, and execute comprehensive system test procedures and evaluation plans
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and serve as the technical point of contact for cross-functional integration
Troubleshoot and resolve system-level issues arising from hardware-software interactions
Contribute to system reliability engineering and validation efforts
Advise technical personnel on hardware system integration and related engineering challenges
Maintain clear and accurate technical documentation throughout the development and testing lifecycle
