SC OB/GYN Licensed Practical Nurse / Registered Nurse
Position Title: Licensed Practical Nurse / Registered Nurse – All OB/GYN Locations
Reports To: Clinic Manager or Clinic Director
Job Overview:
The Licensed Practical Nurse / Registered Nurse (LPN/RN) is responsible for providing direct patient care and clinical support across all South Central OB/GYN clinic locations. This position requires independence, initiative, and a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care, safety, and confidentiality. While the LPN/RN will be assigned a primary work location, they may be required to rotate to other OB/GYN clinics as needed, at the discretion of the Clinic Manager.
Responsibilities and Duties:
•Identify patients using appropriate patient identifiers before treatment
•Obtain and correctly document ambulatory intake in Cerner
•Route prescriptions to the pharmacy
•Administer and document injections, ensuring use of correct site and patient identifiers
•Perform and document Non-Stress Tests as ordered
•Ensure accurate documentation of all patient care activities
•Schedule appointments and notify surgery nurse of referrals and radiology procedures
•Stock exam rooms with necessary supplies for daily operations
•Address patient messages in the Cerner OB/GYN message center daily
•Notify patients of test results along with provider instructions and document communication
•Notify appropriate personnel when supplies or medications are needed
•Place orders in Cerner per physician instructions, using verbal orders with read-back confirmation
•Demonstrate proper medication preparation and administration techniques
•Perform and document approved lab procedures, including UCG, urine, hematocrit, glucose, and hemoccult
•Set up and assist physicians with procedures and complete medical consent forms accurately
•Follow proper handwashing techniques and universal protocols for safety
•Order appropriate testing per established protocols
•Demonstrate knowledge of infection control, disaster preparedness, and HIPAA compliance
•Communicate effectively with providers, coworkers, and patients
•Complete all assignments in a timely manner and assist other staff as needed
•Exhibit initiative, active listening, and professional communication with patients and staff
•Provide timely patient triage and explain delays when necessary
•Promote a positive and collaborative team environment
•Maintain strict confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA guidelines
•Adhere to all facility policies outlined in the Employee Handbook
•Perform other duties as assigned; management retains the right to modify responsibilities at any time
Qualifications:
•Current Mississippi Licensed Practical Nurse / Registered Nurse (LPN/RN) license
•Current CPR/BLS certification
