Job Description
Our client, a rapidly growing pharmaceutical company, is seeking a Director of SEC Reporting to lead technical accounting operations and support its path toward a potential IPO. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented leader with deep expertise in SEC reporting, technical accounting, and biopharma industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Compliance
Lead technical accounting and SEC reporting functions in compliance with GAAP, SEC regulations, SOX, and internal policies.
Manage complex transactions including clinical trial accruals, stock-based compensation, revenue recognition, and lease accounting.
SEC Reporting
Prepare and file SEC reports (S-1, 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, etc.).
Ensure accurate, transparent financial disclosures aligned with regulatory standards.
Technical Accounting
Provide guidance on technical issues and stay current on GAAP, IFRS, and evolving regulations.
Audit & Controls
Serve as the primary contact for internal and external audits.
Support SOX and other regulatory audit preparations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with leadership, FP& A, and other teams to align financial reporting with business operations.
Offer strategic insights and accounting expertise to support decision-making.
Systems & Process Optimization
Oversee accounting systems and lead process improvements across AP, payroll, and P2P functions.
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, MBA, or relevant advanced degree strongly preferred.
· A minimum of 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
· Experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry is required.
· Prior experience with Big 4 accounting firms is strongly preferred, offering valuable insights to support the financial performance of the organization.
· Extensive knowledge of GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and technical accounting principles.
· Proficiency in ERP systems and functional knowledge of accounts payable, payroll, and P2P platforms.
· Familiarity with financial compliance and reporting systems such as DFIN or Workiva.·
· Advanced analytical skills, with expertise in leveraging accounting systems for data interpretation and regulatory compliance.
· Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of translating complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
· Self-starter with the ability to independently plan, organize, and meet objectives and deadlines.
