Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A K-12 educational institution in Defuniak Springs, FL, is seeking qualified Teachers for the Visually Impaired to support students with visual impairments throughout the uping school year under a contract arrangement.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students with varying degrees of visual impairment.

Provide direct instruction and support in academic, social, and life skills to enhance student learning and independence.

Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families to ensure acmodations and modifications are effectively integrated.

Assess student progress regularly and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.

Utilize assistive technology and adaptive materials to facilitate access to the curriculum.

Participate in professional development and school meetings to stay current on best practices.

Qualifications:

Valid teaching certification specializing in visual impairment or equivalent licensure.

Experience working with visually impaired students in a K-12 setting.

Strong knowledge of braille, orientation and mobility techniques, and assistive technologies.

Excellent munication and teamwork skills.

Ability to create a supportive learning environment that fosters student growth.
