Litigation Associate – IP & Technology (2nd to 6th Year)

Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid)

Compensation Range: $235,000 – $400,000

Job Type: Full-time

Direct Counsel is representing an Am Law 100 firm seeking a highly motivated Litigation Associate with 2–6 years of experience to join its San Francisco office in the IP & Technology Practice Group. The position offers a hybrid work schedule and competitive compensation, including excellent benefits. Key Responsibilities:

Handle internet law class actions related to consumer protection statutes.

Manage complex commercial litigation involving crypto/blockchain, venture capital, startups, and enforcement actions from agencies such as the SEC, CFTC, DOJ, and state authorities.

Work on privacy and data security matters, including breach class actions (CCPA, CIPA, BIPA, CFAA).

Litigate intellectual property issues including trade secret, copyright, trademark, and patent disputes.

Address legal issues related to artificial intelligence, speech technology, and Section 230.

Draft pleadings, motions, and briefs, manage discovery, and conduct legal research.

Qualifications:

J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.

2–6 years of litigation experience, preferably at a mid- to large-sized firm.

Licensed and in good standing with the California Bar.

Demonstrated interest or experience in technology, crypto, privacy, IP, AI, internet law, or related areas.

Excellent writing, analytical, and interpersonal skills with strong attention to detail.

Self-starter who takes initiative and ownership of assignments.

In-house litigation management experience at a tech company is a plus.
