FWI is building a team to provide highly skilled information technology engineering subject-matter expert support services to support, implement, operate, maintain, and enhance the technologies within the IRS Enterprise Operations (EOPS) Network Engineering business unit. As an IT Network Engineer, you will provide technical expertise in network protocols and enterprise-level network management, supporting domestic and international network connectivity for IRS operations.

Work Schedule and Location:
On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday,8am to 5pm at the IRS ECC office in Memphis, TN.
Responsibilities
Provide domestic and international Internet Protocol (IP) data communications connectivity
Configure and maintain network hardware including routers, switches, load balancers, and firewalls
Support Common Communication Gateways (CCG) infrastructure
Implement network security measures and vulnerability scanning
Conduct network performance analysis and optimization
Provide technical support for network incident response and troubleshooting
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or related field
Current CISCO™ Certified Network Professional (CCNP) OR Current CISCO™ Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in network engineering, design, and implementation
Experience in enterprise-level networks, including data centers, cloud infrastructure, and large-scale WAN/LAN setups
Proven experience in managing and troubleshooting network protocols, such as TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, and MPLS
Project management experience leading or working on network-related projects, including design, upgrades, or troubleshooting
Requires the following technical skills:
Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) routing
Advanced features including Policy Based Routing (PBR), Route manipulation, Community Tags, Traffic Shaping
Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP)
Open Shortest Path First (OSPF)
Active/Active routing design
Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI)
Virtual eXtensible Local-Area Network (VXLAN)\
Spanning Tree Protocol (STP)
Network Automation
Desired:
Master's degree preferred
Knowledge of network infrastructure components: routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless networks
Proficiency in scripting/automation
Familiarity with automation tools
Expertise in network monitoring tools
Strong knowledge of network security protocols and practices, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS systems, and Zero Trust models
Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and Software-Defined Networking (SDN)
