The Department of Physics within the College of Arts and Sciences seeks a Post Doctoral Scholar to join our CMS Experimental group working at the CERN Large Hadron Collider.

The CMS group invites applications for a Post Doctoral Scholar position that will be based at the OSU campus. The group is involved in several analyses and upgrade projects, including the Track Trigger Upgrade for the high luminosity running of the LHC and searching for Beyond the Standard Model physics using effective field theory. The Post Doctoral Scholar will take a leading role in analysis of Run 2 and Run 3 data in the top-antitop + photon analysis using effective field theory. The candidate will take a leadership role to move the analysis toward publication.

Minimum Education Required

Ph.D. or equivalent in Physics

Required Qualifications

• Demonstrated record of accomplishments in using effective field theory to study proton-proton collisions.

• Demonstrated understanding of top-antitop quark production with an associated photon.

• Technical skills in the use of columnar analysis approaches with python.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with C++ programming.

• Experience in developing emulation software for FPGA-based electronics.

• Experience contributing to data taking of large experiments.
