POSITION SUMMARY: The Harbor Master is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of tenders and rescue boats between the Port of Nassau and Royal Beach Club Paradise Island.
The key duties include but not limited to managing tender traffic, coordinating safe docking and undocking procedures, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations, supervising Water Taxi Team, and maintaining safety and security protocols.
The Harbor Master also monitors weather and sea conditions, handles logistics related to loading and unloading cargo, and serves as the primary point of contact for ships, port authorities, and emergency services related Royal Beach Club Paradise Island to ensure smooth port operations.
This role supports the Operations Director in all operational aspects of Harbor Operations to ensure the Destination performance objectives, KPI’s, Guest and Team Member satisfaction, and other key results areas consistently meet and exceed Company’s targets.
This position leads by example and requires exemplary organization, attention to detail, excellent Guest and Team Member engagement, training, knowledge of the product and service standards.
Strong leadership, communication skills, and knowledge of maritime regulations are also essential for this role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Monitors all Company’s related inboard/outboard tender movements within the harbor, ensuring adherence to maritime and environmental regulations.
• Manages and optimizes the harbor traffic flow, ensuring efficient, reliable, and safe operations while and preventing congestion.
• Enforces safety and security measures to safeguard both maritime activities and the surrounding environment.
• Oversees the implementation of technology solutions for tracking and monitoring tender movements.
• Develops and implements reporting mechanisms to track and analyze harbor activities, safety measures, and compliance.
• Develops solid Emergency Preparedness and Contingency Plan and Harbor Operations Manual for best practices.
• Collaborates with local partners, governmental agencies, and governing bodies to facilitate effective communication and coordination.
• Implements and oversee safety protocols to ensure operational safety for all harbor users.
• Conducts regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with maritime and environmental regulations.
• Responds promptly to emergency situations, coordinating with relevant authorities to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of Guests, Team Members, Visitors, and tenders.
Works closely with Safety and Security Team to promote safe environment and overall Harbor operation.
• Provides guidance and support to Water Taxi Team, fostering a culture of safety, professionalism, and environmental responsibility.
Ensures everyone is trained and understands the Brand culture and Guests Service.
• Monitors trainings completion with help of the Training Manager.
• Develops and maintains strong relationships with the maritime community, stakeholders, and residents.
• Mitigates the risks associated with large aquatic events through the application of safety management principles and risk assessment.
Prohibiting access to some areas may be required and will require local regulation.
Focus on community engagement and ability to find a harmonious method to co-exist with other harbor activities.
• Analyzes all Guest ratings and Team Member survey results and comments.
• Knows all Destination events and functions by reviewing all available data to provide Guests, Team Members, and vendors with accurate and up-to-date information to answer questions and handle any special requests.
• Delivers services and experiences for special groups, business visits, and weddings.
Collaborates with other divisions to achieve the ultimate positive outcome of the event or visit.
• Supports other divisions and promotes teamwork.
Works closely with Warehouse Manager and Technical Team to provide support in provision transfer to and from the Destinations.
• Participates in trainings and meetings.
Adheres to a Company confidentiality agreement.
• Follows the Destinations grooming standards and ensures the team follows the standards.
• Acknowledges and greets Guests, Visitors, and Team Members in public spaces with a warm, friendly greeting.
• Manages work schedules to meet the needs of the operation.
Develops, implements, and monitors rotation sheets for the operation.
Keeps record of hours worked and approves overtime.
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Monitors expense areas including payroll, overtime, maintenance, and operational supplies.
• Maintains the inventory of operational equipment and trains the Team on how to maintain inventory par level.
QUALIFICATIONS: • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Business Management or Marine Operations is required.
Minimum of five (5) years related experience and/or training may substitute for this educational requirement at an equivalent rate.
• Valid tender driving license is required.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in harbor management, maritime operations, or a similar role is required.
• Advanced knowledge and experience of maritime regulations, environmental standards, and safety protocols is required.
• Advanced communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders is required.
• Ability to make critical decisions in high-pressure situations and respond to emergencies.
• Advanced knowledge and experience in responding to events or incidents, developing response strategies & leadership to minimize impact is required.
• Basic knowledge and experience with technology solutions for harbor management and vessel tracking is required.
• Basic knowledge and experience with local maritime and Port of Nassau laws and regulations is required.
