Job Type: Licensed Funeral Director

Position Summary:

The Funeral Director is responsible for guiding families through the funeral planning process with compassion, professionalism, and attention to detail. This role involves coordinating all aspects of funeral, memorial, and cremation services while ensuring that every family’s wishes are honored with the highest level of care and respect.

Key Responsibilities:

Meet with families to make funeral arrangements, offering guidance, options, and support throughout the process

Prepare all necessary paperwork, including permits, death certificates, and insurance claims

Coordinate and direct all aspects of funeral services, including visitations, ceremonies, burials, and cremations

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing funeral service

Arrange transportation for the deceased, family members, clergy, and pallbearers as needed

Provide information and assistance with pre-need funeral arrangements

Work closely with clergy, cemeteries, florists, and other service providers

Oversee preparation and care of the deceased, working collaboratively with embalmers or crematory staff

Maintain a compassionate and professional demeanor in all interactions

Support the maintenance of the funeral home’s facilities, vehicles, and equipment

Qualifications:

Valid Funeral Director license

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mortuary Science from an accredited program

Knowledge of funeral laws, regulations, and best practices

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and discretion

Proficient with computers and funeral home software systems

Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and be on-call as needed

Preferred Skills:

Bilingual (if applicable)

Experience with pre-need sales and planning

Knowledge of various religious, cultural, and military funeral customs
