Pay: $45K - $50K, depending on experience

Job purpose

The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager plays a key leadership role in the day-to-day operations of all front-of-house (FOH) food and beverage services, including dining, bar, and event service. Working closely with the Food & Beverage Manager, this position is responsible for executing service standards, leading FOH staff, and maintaining operational efficiency and member satisfaction. While this is a supporting leadership role, the Assistant F&B Manager exercises independent judgment in managing staff and daily operations.

Duties and responsibilities

Manage daily front-of-house operations, including dining room, event, and bar service, ensuring consistent and exceptional member experience.

Maintain a highly visible and engaged floor presence during peak service hours, especially on evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Oversee staffing responsibilities, including interviewing, hiring, onboarding, scheduling, performance management, and, when necessary, terminations.

Lead FOH payroll processes, including accurate entry of hours, management of tip tracking, and compliance with wage and hour regulations.

Interview, hire, onboard, and train FOH team members in alignment with club standards and service expectations.

Ensure adherence to the Food & Beverage Manager's service standards, operational procedures, and training manuals.

Conduct and oversee accurate physical inventories of food, beer, liquor, and wine.

Uphold and reinforce service standards, training procedures, and operational policies established by the F&B Manager.

Analyze and interpret operational metrics, including AvT (Actual vs. Theoretical) and COGS reports, identify trends, and work collaboratively to implement corrective actions to optimize performance.

Manage purchasing and vendor relationships, including monitoring pars and order cycles based on seasonality, usage, and event demand.

Monitor and maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety compliance in all F&B areas.

Frequently lift and transport items up to 50 lbs., including kegs, wine cases, and banquet equipment, as part of daily operational responsibilities.

Model professionalism, a strong work ethic, and a member first mentality always, serving as an example to staff at all times.

Protect the assets of the Club.

Operate within the policies, procedures, and quality standards established by Hampton Golf and club leadership.

Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of supervisory or assistant management experience in fine-dining or private club setting preferred.

Strong knowledge of inventory procedures, AvT evaluation, labor control, and cost analysis, especially related to bar COGS.

Experience with payroll input and tip tracking for FOH operations is required.

Proven ability to coach, train, and hold staff accountable while maintaining a positive team culture.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, aligned by the club's events calendar.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs unassisted.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, POS systems, and inventory platforms is required; experience with Club essentials, Jonas, or similar systems is a plus.

ServSafe and responsible alcohol service certifications are highly desirable.

Working conditions

Work is primarily indoors. Potential exposure to sharp and rapid equipment movement, sharp utensils, harmful chemicals and/or being exposed to flying golf balls.

Physical requirements

Good organizational and verbal skills. Ability to use logical and rational thinking to resolve issues. Ability to perform basic mathematical skills, monitor and develop subordinates, visually monitor the operation areas, write and read member communication.

Must have the ability to perform moderate physical work and may be required to lift up 50 lbs., and up to 30 lbs. frequently. Perform activities such as bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, lifting and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting.

Please be advised that all work that requires the use of a ladder more than 8 ft. long must be reviewed by Hampton Golf's Club Maintenance person. Following an assessment of the situation, a determination will be made as to whether a maintenance team member or subcontractors will perform the necessary maintenance task. No other staff member is authorized to climb to heights exceeding 8 ft. and/or perform such maintenance. In addition, personnel are prohibited from entering facility attics, walking on the roof of buildings and/or from using scaffolding.
