The Early-Stage Program Assistant works with the Early-Stage Program Coordinator to assist in the planning and implementation of the Reconnections program for participants in the early stages of dementia The Program Assistant is also responsible for fostering a team-focused environment as well as practicing Person Centered Care for all participants in their programming and care needs. The Early-Stage Program Assistant will report directly to the Early-Stage Program Coordinator.
Responsibilities: The Early-Stage Program Assistant works with the Early-Stage Team to assist in the planning and facilitation of recreation activities during each session that promote cognition, creative expression, movement, sense of purpose, reflection or spirituality, social engagement, and new learning experiences based on the abilities and interests of the participants. The Early-Stage Program Assistant will also prepare supplies for activities, assist in serving lunch, and maintain a clean and safe environment.
Requirements: Qualified Candidates should have experience working with individuals with dementia as well as experience working in a recreation/programming setting. High school diploma or GED equivalent required, ideal education for candidates could include studies in recreation therapy, art therapy, music therapy, gerontology, etc. CTRS preferred. Minimum of one year experience with geriatric population and dementia preferred. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend and squat for prolonged periods.
