One Tech Engineering is searching for an Environmental Scientist Assistant for a position located in Columbus, Ohio. The Environmental Scientist Assistant will do environmental compliance monitoring of utility-scale solar projects.

The candidate must be a US Citizen or a green card holder, the position is not eligible for sponsorship. The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Biology Ecology, Natural Resources, or a related field.

Local candidates preferred or open to relocation. This is not a remote position.

Environmental Scientist Assistant Responsibilities:

Ensure compliance with applicable environmental laws, regulations, and permit conditions.

Minimize impacts to environmental, cultural, and biological resources, and verify adherence to environmental commitments made to regulatory agencies and other stakeholders.

Conduct inspections and maintain required documentation.

Review and inspect the implementation of Best Management Practices (BMPs).

Provide oversight of spill prevention and response measures.

Ensure permit and regulatory compliance is maintained throughout the project.

Track and verify adherence to all permit conditions.

Perform daily site walkthroughs to observe and monitor ongoing construction activities.

Conduct field observations and report on environmental compliance.

Identify, document, and report instances of non-compliance.

Prepare clear and concise daily logs, inspection reports, and issue tracking documentation.

Attend bi-weekly project team meetings and draft corresponding bi-weekly inspection reports.

Requirements of the Environmental Scientist Assistant:

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, or a related field from an accredited program is required.

1-4 years in environmental compliance monitoring, preferably within the renewable energy sector.

Must have knowledge NPDES SWPPP/ESCP permitting.

Familiarity with Ohio environmental regulations and permitting requirements: Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, National Historic Preservation Act, USACE Permitting, Ohio EPA and ODNR requirements.

Strong observational skills and attention to detail.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

OSHA 10 certification is a nice-to-have.

Must have a valid driver's license.
