Robert Half has partnered with a fast-growing construction/contracting company located on the East side of Raleigh North Carolina to assist them in hiring an Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager reports to the CFO and will plan and direct the accounting activities of the department. A bachelor's degree is preferred and both supervisory experience and construction experience are required for consideration. You will be responsible for planning and directing the accounting activities of the department, as well as ensuring the financial reports comply with generally accepted accounting principles and/or financial reporting standards. Responsibilities:
• Hiring, training, managing, and motivating accounting staff members while supervising and delegating department tasks.
• Coordinates training programs and identifies training needs for staff.
• Evaluating, developing, and improving department controls, systems, and procedures that increase accuracy and efficiency.
• Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Administration activities
• Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and/or financial reporting standards.
• Prepares and/or reviews appropriate ledger entries and reconciliations.
• Maintains the general ledger system.
• Prepares monthly and annual financial statements accurately and timely.
• Provides analysis of monthly financial results.
• Audits accounts regularly for accuracy.
• Coordinates with outside accounting firm and provides needed information for the annual external audit or review and ensures timely completion in accordance with banking and/or bonding requirements.
• Maintains fixed assets schedules and prepares related journal entries.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements and regulatory reporting including payroll, sales, and income taxes.
• Assist in risk management activities including bonding and insurance.
• Assists other departments as they develop strategies, establish objectives, and make decisions that could have a financial impact on the business.
• Assists in creating annual departmental budgets.
• Assists in annual evaluation of overhead allocation.
• Provides monthly departmental budget reporting.

• Proficient in Sage and Procore
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Intermediate or better Excel skills
• BS in Accounting or Finance is preferred
• 5+ years of related experience, public accounting experience preferred
• Construction accounting experience required
