Summary:
The Controller provides professional-level support regarding accounting, financial, and compliance functions for Hynes Industries in order to ensure timely and accurate reporting and effective analysis that leads to maximization of economic performance. The ideal candidate is results oriented and customer service driven who thrives in a fast-paced business environment. The Controller directs the day-to-day operations of the Accounting and Finance staff, assuring that a highly productive and well trained staff is always maintained, assures the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of financial reporting and accounting functions while providing information and assistance to Management and all levels of the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Includes the following:
Assist in the Direction of the Organization’s Accounting Functions
Maintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, evaluating, and training employees.
Evaluate existing processes and make recommendations for modifications to maximize accuracy and efficiency
Identify opportunities for the development of new processes and make recommendations
Participate in daily accounting activities that support timely and accurate reporting and improve performance and profitability of the organization
Perform financial review and analysis of operating results
Develop and analyze ad hoc reports as required
Oversee all aspects of the accounting area and ensure the month close is completed accurately and within the monthly close cycle, including the development, preparation and review of all Balance Sheet account reconciliations and key accruals.
Special Projects at the direction of the CFO for business process enhancements
Development and maintenance of the planning and budgeting process
Develop, drive and improve internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance and the highest integrity of the company’s financial results
Work cross-functionally with other departments to increase financial reporting accuracy and timeliness
Develop and maintain written procedures and expense coding/validation rules for the Accounting department and others within organization
Work with engineering team on the Capital Expense budget and placing in service and disposition of assets for cash flow and projections
Prepare for and oversee the interim and annual audits as well as tax return preparation support with external audit firms
Monitor and maintain compliance, timely filing and payment of state and local taxes for real estate, annual reports and sales and use taxes
Preparation of Financial reports and documenting processes and procedures
Help prepare regular communications to investors and lenders, maintain favorable relationships with outside financial institutions, vendors and customers
Assist the CFO in insurance renewals
Perform the Treasury Function, and maintains strong banking relationships

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required, MBA preferred, CPA or CMA also preferred
Minimum five (5) years hands-on manufacturing accounting background with cost accounting experience, progressive responsibility
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively in a deadline driven environment
Strong leadership skills
Strong attention to detail and solid analytic skill base
Experience developing and maintain relationships and ability to interact with all levels of the organization and externally
Mathematical Skills:
Experience with Sage 300, MISys, Microsoft Power BI and Advanced experience in Microsoft Office Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Basic math and writing/grammatical skills and capabilities
Reasoning Ability: Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication, collaboration and teamwork skills; strong ability to plan organize, and prioritize tasks; aptitude for analysis, process improvement, problem solving and solution implementation
Physical activities and/or requirements include: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand and sit. The employee is regularly required to use hands to feel or handle tools, objects and controls. The employee is rarely required to lift or move up to 25 lbs.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision, close vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee seldom works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
Additional Skills/or Abilities:
Relevant experience in steel or special metals environment a plus
Work experience in a lean business environment is highly desirable
Experience with Sage 300, MISys, Power BI and Host Analytics (Planful) desirable
Must have advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal, supervisory and customer service skills required
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required
