Position Summary:
The purpose of the Recreation Facility Attendant is to monitor and assist with the operation of the facility, programs and events and implement related practices and procedures. Often responsible for opening and closing of facility before and after rental and set up and take down of tables, chairs, and/or equipment. Supervise rental groups. Ensure safety of patrons during operation of facility. This position is required to adhere to all Waukegan Park District (District) policies and procedures.
Essential Functions:
Demonstrates good customer service in communicating with rental groups/patrons.
Answers customer inquiries or directs to appropriate staff as necessary.
Receives payment for admission or parking fees.
Assists with and follows parking procedures as outlined by supervisor.
Opens cash station, prepares for the business day, oversees, balances, and prepares daily reports, counts money, and secures station at the end of the business day.
Enforces facility use rules and guidelines and District policies, procedures, rules, and guidelines.
Assists with the planning and implementation of programs and special events.
Maintains proper inventory of all supplies and materials.
Reviews facility schedule daily and sets up and takes down as needed, cleans, and maintains work area, appropriate equipment, and supplies for activities.
Cleans up bodily fluids as needed after any accident.
Open to instructions from event leaders or renters.
Conducts walk through inspections to ensure site safety and documents deficiencies as required.
Assists in the preparation and maintenance of reports and records regarding participants, programs, and services.
Drives District vehicles to transport equipment to sites.
Wears assigned uniforms at all times while on duty.
Performs routine, preventative, and corrective custodial maintenance of the assigned facility.
Performs routine facility maintenance functions, including, but not limited to, general clean up, trash removal, and window cleaning.
Assists with equipment maintenance.
Contacts emergency personnel as needed.
Attends department and District meetings and training sessions.
Perform duties in compliance with established District policies and procedures.
Participate in District safety and training program to ensure that work performed and services provided are done safely.
Assists staff in completion of work orders.
Maintains reports relating to daily admissions and usage.
Assists with other recreation programs and special events as needed.
Assists staff and volunteers in the performance of their duties.
Performs other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor to support the Recreation Department or the District.
Qualifications
Age:
16 years and older.
Education:
High school graduation preferred
Experience:
Part-time or seasonal work with a recreation agency preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
General knowledge of recreation principles and philosophy
Basic knowledge of customer service, recreation, sports, and fitness
Equipment set up and use for rentals and high-volume usage
Bilingual English and Spanish speaking desirable
Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as assigned
Be reliable, dependable, and prompt
Communicates effectively verbally and in writing
Shows initiative and responsibility
Performs duties with minimal supervision

License/Certification:
Valid and unrestricted driver's license (not including vision restrictions for corrective lenses) preferred
First Aid/CPR/AED certification required within one (1) year of hire date
Hours:
Shifts Available weekdays Monday-Friday 11am-5pm and weekends 7am-1pm or 1pm-7pm.
