POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Technical Manager is responsible for the supervision of the day-to-day running of all mechanical and electrical equipment.
The role demonstrates exemplary mechanical, electrical, and technical skills.
The Assistant Technical Manager leads and inspires the Team to work to their highest capabilities and ensures they continuously develop talent in the department.
The role trains Team Members on the safety and environmental policies, environmental systems, and machinery to ensure A.B.C.
(Above and Beyond Compliance) standards are achieved and maintained.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Oversees the Team in charge of mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.
• Supervises plant maintenance and issues job orders as per AMOS preventive maintenance plan.
• Updates maintenance work in the AMOS Planned Maintenance System.
• Follows all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and trains the Team on the essential procedures.
• Provides feedback, evaluations, and disciplinary action to the Team Members to develop their talents.
• Shares ideas with the Management to improve the daily operation, safety, compliance, and cost control.
• Conducts briefings/meetings with the Team, communicates updates and important information promptly.
• Uses clear, concise, and professional communication in person, over the radio, phone, and in written format.
• Demonstrates effective teamwork with the Team.
Displays advanced time management skills and coaches others.
• Creates schedules, coordinates the repair and maintenance of all facilities and equipment in the destination.
• Assigns duties to the Team as per plan and daily job orders.
Demonstrates and leads a safety-first culture in all tasks.
• Conducts and trains the Team on safety checks on mechanical and electrical systems.
• Writes reports and completes maintenance logs on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
• Applies problem resolution skills promptly to ensure operational excellence and Team Members’ Satisfaction.
• Communicates with the Management when an issue arises that will impact the business.
• Adheres to all Company policies regarding Chemical Management, handling, storing, and training.
• Oversees the proper maintenance and control of all Fire Fighting and Hazmat equipment in the destination.
• Participates in trainings and meetings.
Adheres to a Company confidentiality agreement.
• Follows the destinations grooming standards and ensures the Team follows the standards.
• Acknowledges and greets Guests, Visitors, and Team Members in public spaces with a warm, friendly greeting.
• Manages work schedules, vacations, shifts, working hours to meet the needs of the operation and efficiently managing any additional workload requirements.
Develops, implements, and monitors rotation sheets for the operation.
Keeps record of hours worked and approves overtime.
• Maintains the continuous updating of clear and concise handover notes to eliminate any possible miscommunication that compromises the efficiency of set processes.
MECHANICAL • Supports Department Heads with mechanical issues, needs, concerns, and procurement.
• Oversees, maintains, and repairs generators using current methods and techniques.
Performs the daily generators inspections and checks and completes logs on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
• Ensures all operational watercrafts and all outboard motors are well maintained.
• Manages the repairs of electric, gasoline, and diesel vehicles, including but not limited to golf carts, trams.
MAINTENANCE • Supports Department Heads with woodwork needs, concerns, and procurement.
• Ensures all fixtures, buildings and equipment are painted regularly to maintain the standard of the Destination.
• Ensures all installations and equipment for Water taxi safe operation including platforms, ladders, bollards, life safety appliances are fixed, lean and painted as required.
• Manages the maintenance and conservation of the Destination’s upholstery, curtains, covers, sail shades, and other related elements.
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • Follows up on orders to ensure timely delivery of the product or services.
Reports any delays in advance which may affect the project.
Checks deliveries against purchase orders for accuracy.
• Maintains an orderly and rational storage system, updates spare parts, materials, and consumable stores in AMOS • Controls the inventory and assists with the purchasing of tools, equipment, and parts.
QUALIFICATIONS: • A High School Diploma or basic education equivalency is required.
• A minimum of two (2) years of technical Supervisory experience.
• A minimum of four (4) years operational experience with Power Generation, Sewage Treatment Plants, Incinerators, Potable Water Production, Satellite Communications, and heavy operating equipment.
• Must hold valid licenses or certificates in a technical specialty.
• Progressive technical experience and training in a cruise ship industry or 5-star resort environment.
• Proven ability to work on time-sensitive projects.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of computers, Internet, and the ability to navigate within MS Office, E1, Medallia, AMOS, IssuTrax, and maintenance systems required.
Ability to interpret architectural plans.
• Ability to work positively and cooperatively in a diverse international environment.
• Valid driving license.
The ability to drive heavy equipment machinery is an advantage.
• Ability to maintain focus, work with strict deadlines, multitask and be flexible and adaptable.
• Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) is an advantage.
• Project Management Professional (PMP or similar) is an advantage.
• Valid driving license is required.
The ability to drive heavy equipment machinery is an advantage.
• Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with Guests, Team Members, Contractors, and Vendors.
• Ability to read and write English, to understand and interpret written procedures.
This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from Guests, Managers, and Team Members.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste and smell.
The Team Member must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• All destination Team Members must be physically able to participate in emergency life-saving procedures and drills.
Full use/range of motion of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal, and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: • Destination outdoor environment where high temperature, precipitation, and humid temperatures are experienced.
• While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is required to work outdoors in extremely humid and hot conditions for an extended period of time.
• This is a position where duties are exercised outdoors, walking in sand, and uneven surfaces, and high scaffolding.
