Overview: A well-established manufacturer of large-diameter fasteners and precision-machined components is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist and Programmer with experience operating Mazak mills. This is a hands-on role requiring proficiency in Mazatrol and G-code programming, with a focus on machining high-strength steel parts to tight tolerances in a project-based, quality-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Program, set up, and operate Okuma CNC lathes and turning-milling centers, plus large-format mills
Create and optimize toolpaths with Mastercam for both turning and milling applications
Interpret and apply GD&T from complex engineering drawings
Select and manage tooling, speeds, and feeds for heavy steels, alloys, and custom materials
Conduct in-process and final inspections using micrometers, indicators, gauges, and CMMs
Troubleshoot machining issues and maintain accurate program documentation
Collaborate with engineering and QA teams on fixturing, process planning, and continuous improvement
Track and log detailed records of setups, tooling, inspections, and production outcomes
Qualifications
8-10 years CNC programming and machining experience
Proficiency in Mastercam, G code, and conversational programming
Experience with Okuma lathes (including multi-axis turning-mill) and CNC vertical mills
Ability to machine large or heavy parts with precision in custom, low-volume runs
Strong understanding of GD&T, blueprint reading, and inspection techniques
Self-motivated, process-oriented, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills
High school diploma or equivalent; technical education or relevant CNC certification preferred
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems and shop safety practices.
Background working with large-diameter threaded parts or similar heavy industrial components.
