Lab Processing Technician - CCC Clinical Trials Office

Department:

CCC Clinical Trials Processing Lab

Lab Processing Technician to support the Clinical Trials Processing Laboratory (CTPL) in the Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Please Note: This position does not involve wet lab or bench-based research activities. The role is focused on laboratory support tasks such as specimen processing, labeling, and data management within a clinical trials setting.

Responsibilities

Assists with all activities of the CTPL including preparing labels and labeling tubes for specimen collection, processing, storage, and shipping

Assists with data management, inventory control and quality control of human biological samples

Uses prescribed laboratory methods, instruments and automated equipment; maintain laboratory maintenance records

Assists with processing biological specimens from patients enrolled in studies conducted by the OSU Clinical Trials Office including preparing tubes, syringes, and specimen labels for specimen collection

Processes specimens of time-sensitive patient samples for pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic and other correlative studies; retrieves and ships samples

Completes laboratory test requisition forms; maintain sample records for audit purposes

Communicates with outside reference labs regarding patient testing, handle inquiries and resolve any testing and/or specimen collection errors; interacts with research protocol and hospital clinical staff

Manages sample inventory log and electronic database; Participate in data entry and management, quality control, audits and FDA inspections, continuous quality improvement and inventory management of clinical trial specimens, trial and laboratory supplies

Ensures compliance with FDA and IRB regulations as well as internal clinical research SOPs, policies and procedures; maintain all GCP, IATA, EHS and sponsor-required trainings and certifications

Job Requirements

Associate Degree in Applied Science or Medical Laboratory field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Must be able to effectively communicate face to face and in writing with clinical staff and outside collaborators.

Monday - Friday, 10:30AM - 7:00PM

Monday - Friday, 9:00AM - 5:30PM
