AWS Solution Architect – Platform Architecture

We are seeking a talented, highly motivated senior software engineer with a passion for AWS, serverless and event-driven architectures. The successful candidate will work closely with highly skilled AWS engineers to design, build, and roll out our cloud reinsurance development platform. Core Responsibilities

Develop and deploy high-quality platform features, that are well-tested, clearly documented, and delivered continuously to production on AWS.

Work closely with development teams to support onboarding and development on the platform.

Collaborate cross-functionally with architects, development squads, and other enablement teams to determine beneficial platform features and achieve high-quality solutions.

Evaluate, onboard and integrate third-party platforms to enhance our capabilities and support strategic objectives.

Provide ongoing maintenance and support for the platform, ensuring high levels of scalability, performance, resiliency, and cost optimization.

Contribute to shaping overall systems strategy and development process on AWS.

Keep up to date and critically evaluate new and updated AWS services and independent technology solutions.

Effectively communicate with management.

Contribute to a culture of innovation and be a day-to-day champion for AWS development best practices.

Skills & Experience:

Experience developing and delivering solutions on a cloud platform, particularly AWS – AWS certification is an advantage.

Experience with Infrastructure as Code deployment tooling such as CloudFormation, Serverless Framework, or Cloud Development Kit.

A distinct advantage is a passion for serverless with commercial serverless experience using technologies such as Lambda, API Gateway, and data stores like Dynamo DB.

Experience with event-driven architectures and working with messaging technologies like Apache Kafka or AWS Event Bridge.

Experience working with the Python ecosystem but not afraid to try and adopt new development languages when the need arises.

Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery.

Passionate about the importance of non-functional architecture characteristics.

Experience producing high-quality architecture artifacts, e.g., architecture diagrams.

Strong communication skills – collaborating and communicating effectively with different teams is vital for this role.
