The Welding Engineer will develop and validate welding procedures, program automated welding systems (like robotic welders), and document process improvements to optimize quality and cost efficiency. Description
Lead and support welding fabrication projects, applying modern techniques to ensure safety, efficiency, and effectiveness by leveraging Lean, 5S, and flow line principles
Develop welding procedures hands-on, utilizing visual inspection, NDT, and destructive testing methods
Create and maintain welding documentation, including WPS, quality control standards, and detailed work instructions
Program and set up automated welding equipment, including robotic welders, with a willingness to learn Cloos and Fanuc controller systems
Maintain and update manufacturing files and systems including routings, BOMs, prints, and machine programs in response to design engineering changes
Facilitate and lead problem-solving initiatives using structured methodologies such as A3 and Four-Step problem-solving
Drive cost and efficiency improvements by researching, evaluating, and implementing new welding technologies and CapEx projects
Provide daily support for resolving welding and fabrication issues on the production floor
Collaborate and communicate effectively across departments, including with internal customers and suppliers
Exhibit strong commitment to achieving department, division, and company-wide goals and strategic initiatives
Profile
Bachelor's Degree in Welding or Welding Technology is highly preferred
Bachelor's Degree in another related Engineering field with a demonstrated knowledge of welding fabrication of 3 years of more
3+ years of demonstrated experience in the core competencies of Welding Fabrication
Advanced knowledge of industry welding processes including GMAW, GTAW, RSW and Stud Welding
Experience reading and interpreting blueprint and CAD drawings including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T)
Familiarity with Robotic programming and it's application with welding and fabrication processes
Technical knowledge of welding processes, equipment and/or support services and other relevant manufacturing activities
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal to clearly present ideas in a variety of forums
Familiarity with Tool Design and Tool Building and it's application with welding and fabrication processe
Preferred:
CWI-Certified Welding Inspector
CWEng-Certified Welding Engineer
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles and demonstrated implementation of the lean principles & key performance indicators
Experience using Microsoft Excel to analyze operational metrics
Knowledgeable with Roboplan programming software
Understanding of CAD design software
Job Offer
Base salary between $90,000 - $115,000 depending on experience
Annual bonus based on company performance
