Position Summary:
The Knowledge Management (KM) Lead develops and supports overall knowledge infrastructure and enables lawyers to work more effectively by managing processes, creating model forms, and facilitating training to produce time and cost savings while providing additional value add for clients. Works with practice groups to establish KM best practices and integrate appropriate technology to automate those practices. At this time, candidates who would work in the following states will not be considered for this role: VT, RI, NY, NJ, NH, MI, ME, MA, DE, CO, CT, CA, and AZ.
Essential Functions:
Develop, implement, maintain and coordinate the implementation of firm wide KM efforts.
Collaborate with designated practice group contacts to create best practices and gain consensus on standards of operational efficiency.
Partner and collaborate with practice groups to identify and develop KM opportunities, improve KM processes, and gather, organize, and analyze knowledge within the firm.
Create and maintain knowledge bases, manage document templates, and analyze the effectiveness of KM systems.
Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of knowledge and innovation initiatives, using data-driven approaches for continuous improvement.
Promote and communicate the Knowledge Management process with key attorneys.
Work with the Business Development Department, as appropriate, to support the firm’s experience collection efforts. Identify opportunities to strengthen and expand existing processes.
Collaborate with appropriate IM and practice group resources on the selection of tools for knowledge management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Detailed understanding of Knowledge management processes and techniques
Strong technical skills related to KM applications
Knowledge of the typical workflows and needs of attorneys in the practice
Strong organizational skills
Good judgment
Ability to work well with project teams and practice groups
Experience with change management and user adoption strategies
Ability to lead groups with powerful stakeholders
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the appropriate discretion
Desirable But Not Essential
Admitted to practice law in Ohio, Texas, California, DC and in good standing
Formal legal education and experience
Knowledge of and experience in implementing, project management best practices
Expertise with tools such as Litera Foundation, Copilot Studio, Power apps/Automate
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in related discipline or combination of equivalent education and experience.
J.D. preferred
3-5 years of experience in similar field.
2 plus years as a practicing attorney preferred.
