Chemical recycling offers a promising alternative to depolymerise plastic waste into its
constituent monomers; thereby, reducing our dependence on fossil-based feedstock.
This approach is suitable for most polymers used in our daily life. In view of the
stringent policy regulations across the globe, chemical recycling has been identified
as a potential solution for sustainable waste management of different sectors ranging
from packaging and automobile to consumer electronics and medicine. In view of
this, the goal is to define a strategy for market integration based on a comprehensive
evaluation of techno-economic feasibility and governing policy regulations, and to
identify potential value chains through a comprehensive market analysis.
Aims
The ultimate goal is to develop a well-defined strategy for market integration based
on different chemical recycling technologies already established at Fraunhofer
Institute for Chemical Technology (ICT).
What you will do
Comprehensive literature research and market study on the current state-of-the-art
chemical recycling technologies
Identifying relevant waste streams that are compatible for chemical recycling
(solvolysis) and are/can be a subject of different current/future environmental policy
regulations (national and international)
Analysing the techno-economic feasibility of the existing technologies developed at
Fraunhofer ICT for identified waste streams based on heuristics
Identifying suitable value chains for market integration along with a profitability
analysis
Dissemination of the results through appropriate publications and/or at relevant
conferences
What you bring to the table
Currently pursuing post-graduation in Business Administration, Technology and
Management and/or other allied fields
Previous undergraduate degree in Chemical, Process and/or Mechanical Engineering
is desired but not mandatory
Interest in subjects like Circular Economy, Business Strategy and Sustainability
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Power Point & Word)
Motivation to establish this topic further at Fraunhofer ICT
What you can expect
a challenging, attractive, interdisciplinary and international working environment
an appreciative and supportive working atmosphere
Opportunities for individual development - flexible working hours thanks to flexitime agreements
Parking spaces, canteen and library on campus
... and much more!
The weekly working time is max 20 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
