Description:

RWE Supply & Trading Asia-Pacific Pte. Ltd.

To start as soon as possible, permanent

RWE Supply & Trading (RWEST) is the interface between RWE and the energy markets around the world. Our employees trade electricity, gas, commodities, and CO2 emission allowances. We are active not only in Essen, which is home to one of the world’s largest trading floors, but also in key growth markets – particularly in Asia, where we are represented in Singapore.

Within RWE Supply & Trading (RWEST), Commodity Solutions is in charge of customer coverage, responsible for up- and downstream origination and sales activities in large parts of Europe, also serving large industrials and municipalities. As part of Commodity Solutions the Commodity Flow Desk Global (CFD) provides access to the energy wholesale markets for different clients sectors. Acting as this “cross-commodity hub”, the CFD supports external counterparties in managing their energy price risks through relevant exposures in Power, Gas, Emission Certificates, and derivative hedging products.

A key strategic focus for the CFD is the expansion of downstream financial and physical Sales Trading activities in the Asia-Pacific region (APAC). As part of this, the CFD aims to explore new OTC opportunities. This initiative will be closely aligned with our existing trading operations and our expanding footprint in renewables.

About the role

Build the Future of RWEST CFD in APAC - You will play a key role in shaping the future of RWE's Commodity Flow Desk (CFD) in APAC

You will drive efforts to grow the APAC franchise by originating, establishing, and managing client relationships, and by executing transactions supported by CFD teams in Singapore and Essen

You will be instrumental in the groundwork and market entry strategies for new jurisdictions and products. This includes:

Investigating and evaluating the potential of new business cases

Defining the necessary setups for country-specific and product-specific requirements

Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to secure all required approvals

You will manage and trade the CFD sales trading book, expanding business with both existing and new clients, and streamlining operational processes across key APAC markets such as Australia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore

Job requirements and experience

You hold a university and/or higher degree in business, engineering or a related field

You understand the risk management practices employed by various customer sectors and aggregators in commodities such as Oil, LNG, and Power in APAC, and you're familiar with the respective instruments used in hedging (e.g. OTC swaps, futures, etc.)

You have an established client network in at least one of the focus countries and possess a strong understanding of cultural dynamics across these APAC markets (min. 3 years working with clients in the region is preferred)

You are proactive, entrepreneurial, and display high initiative with a clear drive to develop new business opportunities, while embracing challenges, working well both independently and in teams, and applying complex analytical and conceptual thinking to problem-solving

You have excellent English communication skills and can effectively translate analytical insights for interdisciplinary audiences internally and externally; language skills in any of the focus countries are considered a strong asset

You are able to travel across the region as needed

What we value most is passion, willingness to learn and a deterined and resilient work ethic. So, even if you think you do not yet display all of the skills above, we would still like to hear from you.
