Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
Builds and Assembles ladders for fire trucks. Duties include preparing all handrails assembly, set up and layout for lacing & handrails, and installing and connecting cable anchors and slide block retainers by use of hand and air tools.
Gather materials as specified in drawings.
Use of saber saw to cut angles for ladders.-add?
Forklift operation.-add?
Use of paint thinners, cleaners and lubricants.-add?
Inspect all materials for defects prior to use.
Assemble individual sections of the ladder.
Set-up, layout & drill holes for lacing & handrails.
Install cable anchors.
Install block retainers.
Maneuver and make the necessary adjustments for ladder brackets.
Overhead crane operation and inspection prior to use.
Ensure air tools, air hose and other electrical equipment is inspected and ready for use.
Communicate with supervisors, employees, and other building departments any issue(s) related to performing the duties of this position.
Comply with organizations specific policies and procedures and safety and health standards including housekeeping standards.
On occasion organize and put away parts.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED
5 years of assembly experience (or combination of education and experience).
Forklift License
Language Skills
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
Mathematical Skills
·Perform basic mathematical equations and accurately utilize and read a tape measure.
