Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Tax Preparer to join our team in Forest Hill, Maryland. This contract-to-permanent position offers an opportunity to work with a diverse range of corporate and individual tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise and attention to detail to support our comprehensive accounting and advisory services.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review complex tax returns, including corporate (Form 1120), individual (Form 1040), and small business filings.

• Accurately enter rental property income and deductions, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.

• Audit and cross-reference data entries for tax returns to maintain accuracy and eliminate errors.

• Collaborate with team members to verify and review completed tax returns before submission.

• Follow detailed instructions to structure tax returns properly and avoid common errors, such as adding cents.

• Support the tax preparation process by performing meticulous data entry and maintaining organized records.

• Utilize CCH ProSystem Fx and CCH Sales Tax software to complete tax-related tasks efficiently.

• Apply knowledge of C-Corps and S-Corps to handle tax filings for corporate entities.

• Ensure all tax forms are prepared in accordance with legal standards and company protocols.

• Provide support in structuring tax returns for estate planning and retirement advisory services.• Minimum of 3 years of experience in tax preparation, including corporate and individual tax filings.

• Proficiency in handling complex tax returns, including Forms 1040 and 1120.

• Strong knowledge of rental property income, small business deductions, and tax structures.

• Familiarity with CCH ProSystem Fx and CCH Sales Tax software.

• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to cross-check data for accuracy.

• Understanding of tax regulations and compliance requirements.

• Ability to follow instructions and apply critical thinking to the preparation of tax returns.

• Maryland Tax certification/license preferred but not required.
