Job Description:

The Kokosing Group of Companies is currently seeking a Controller for one of its heavy civil construction operating companies with annual revenues of approximately $1 billion. The position will be based in the company’s Westerville, Ohio office. This position is responsible for all aspects of accounting for the company and will serve as the primary point of contact for all accounting matters.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required

CPA license and/or MBA highly recommended

Experience / Skills:

Construction accounting experience is required

Experience with Vista by Viewpoint software is highly preferred

10+ years of public accounting experience and/or management experience in a large corporate setting

Strong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail

General sense of curiosity with an ability to investigate and solve problems

Willingness to take a hands-on approach and assume full ownership of the accounting function for the assigned operating company

Essential Job Functions:

Manage the month-end close process for the assigned operating company in a timely and accurate manner

Prepare and/or review balance sheet reconciliation schedules to ensure compliance with GAAP

Prepare, review, and post journal entries to support the month-end close process

Oversee the preparation of the monthly WIP schedule

Prepare the monthly financial statement reporting package for distribution to management

Work with operations to ensure accurate reporting of job cost and billing information

Serve as a liaison between operations and accounting

Assist in developing the annual budget and quarterly forecast for the operating company

Assist with the annual external audit by preparing all necessary workpapers and supporting documents

Manage the preparation of year-end income tax schedules for external tax preparers

Work closely with Corporate Shared Services (Accounts Payable and Payroll) on all matters related to the operating company
