Reporting to: Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Requirements:

Has a thorough understanding of our company’s products, operations and procedures. Plays a leadership role in providing technical assistance and training to less experienced employees.

Demonstrates a thorough machine shop knowledge base and background.

Performs the most complex assignments with only a minimal level of supervision to develop machining processes, fixturing, and tooling.

Develops machining processes for new products and components. Creates CNC programs for respective work centers.

Improves current processes and implements new tooling and machining methods.

Is fully trained and capable of troubleshooting and successfully performing the most complex machining assignments.

Leads and/or facilitates small to medium scale projects aimed at systematically improving cost, quality, or service.

Provides leadership in completing projects as directed by the supervisor.

Plays a leadership role in providing technical assistance and training to less experienced employees. Provides technical direction and guidance to operators of a given machining department. Serves as a mentor by providing training and guidance to less experienced CNC programmers, co-ops, and interns.

Programs and occasionally sets-up/operates CNC mill and lathe equipment as needed with minimal supervision.

Collaborates with internal and external resources and provides leadership in completing assigned projects in a timely and efficient manner to successfully meet customer and company objectives.

Partners with other functions, as appropriate, to seek input and identify project issues and take effective corrective action.

Effectively utilizes established project management tools and methodologies to manage project performance.

Understands various Machine controls.

Uses CAD drawing programs (Solidworks) for modelling and design.

Uses computer aided CAM software (GibbsCAM) for “G” & “M” code programming, and works with vendor to establish good code post processors for new machine centers.

Makes adjustments to adhere to established specifications or to correct faulty programming.

Makes general decisions as to quality, tolerances, and operation sequence.

Assists with production problems, changes, designs, costs and product usage.

Communicates effectively with internal company partners in performing assigned tasks. Serves in a leadership role coordinating daily activities and in resolving complex issues.

Keeps the supervisor aware in a timely manner of any issues needing the supervisor’s involvement.

Maintains timely and accurate records and reports, as required.

Observe good housekeeping and safety habits.

Requirements

Understands manufacturing and Industrial engineering theories, principles and procedures and the use of multiple computer programs, controls, and systems tools. This is equivalent to a completed two-year technical college or university education with broad shop training. Has the necessary training to be proficient in the position. An associate’s degree in mechanical engineering technology with appropriate hands-on experience or apprenticeships are considered, equivalent experience also considered.

Has at least two years of experience fully meeting the expectations of Engineering Technician and/or has demonstrated a level of performance and leadership to qualify for the Engineering Technician position.

Has demonstrated the willingness to pursue appropriate professional certifications and continuing education.

Has a thorough machine shop knowledge base and background.

Has excellent communications and interpersonal skills to be able to interact effectively with others to meet customer needs.

Able to program and setup/operate CNC mill and lathe equipment as needed with minimal supervision.

Has effective analytical and problem-solving abilities to meet the requirements of the position.

Effective time management skills in prioritizing and addressing multiple and at times conflicting demands.

High energy with a sense of urgency in responding to customer needs.

High level of personal and professional integrity.
