About the Role

On behalf of our client, RGM Maintenance, Yakr Pty Ltd is seeking a qualified Diagnostic Technician to join the Cairns workshop. This full-time role is classified under ANZSCO 321212 – Diesel Motor Mechanic and is suited to candidates with advanced diagnostic expertise in heavy diesel vehicles, particularly across Daimler’s product line.

Key Responsibilities

As aligned with the ANZSCO 321212 classification, the successful applicant will:

Diagnose mechanical and electronic faults across diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, and suspension systems

Disassemble, repair, and reassemble mechanical components of heavy vehicles

Replace defective or worn parts and verify system performance to manufacturer standards

Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance

Utilise diagnostic scan tools and software to interpret fault codes and performance issues

Review technical documentation and complete accurate service records

Adhere to workplace safety, environmental regulations, and roadworthiness standards

Respond to breakdowns and conduct field service repairs when required

Candidate Requirements

Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent)

Minimum 3 years’ experience in diesel diagnostics and mechanical repair

Hands-on experience with Mercedes-Benz, Fuso, or Freightliner trucks is essential

Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and computerised fault-finding systems

HR or MR driver’s licence (preferred)

Strong awareness of compliance and workshop safety standards

Ability to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team

High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality outcomes
