POSITION SUMMARY:
The Field Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations across diverse operations, including site development, building and bridge demolition, lead and asbestos abatement, and MSHA-regulated crushing and quarry work. This role supports field crews through proactive safety oversight, hazard identification, training, and incident response. The ideal candidate brings hands-on safety experience, strong communication skills, and a commitment to promoting a culture of safety at all times. We are a 24/7 operation during some projects as dictated by our clients, as a result, there will be a need for nights and weekends as needed. We work primarily in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. Our Quarry Operations extend as far south as New Jersey, West to upstate New York, and North to New Hampshire.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct regular jobsite safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and state regulations.
Support project teams with attending project kick-off meetings, site-specific safety plans, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and Safe Work Practices.
Monitor field activities in real-time to ensure adherence to company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
Lead accident and near-miss investigations and prepare detailed reports with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Coordinate safety training and toolbox talks for field personnel, including new hire orientations.
Ensure compliance with hazardous material regulations related to lead and asbestos abatement.
Maintain documentation for safety records, certifications, inspections, and compliance reporting.
Collaborate with supervisors, subcontractors, and clients to resolve safety issues and maintain a safe work environment.
Provide MSHA Part 46 compliance support and training assistance at crushing and quarry operations.
Act as a point of contact for emergency situations and incident response.
Foster a proactive and engaged safety culture across all levels of the organization. We strive to implement functional safety standards that support our team's working environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements
OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification (Required).
3+ years of safety management or field safety experience in heavy civil, demolition, or industrial construction.
Knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, EPA, and relevant local safety regulations.
Valid Driver’s License.
Ability to pass pre-employment drug test and background screening.
Ability to travel daily to job sites across the region.Preferred:
Fluent in Spanish and English (Highly Desirable).
MSHA Part 46 Certification (or ability to obtain).
Experience with lead/asbestos abatement operations and applicable EPA/NESHAP regulations.
Certifications such as CHST, CSST, and First Aid/CPR are a plus.
Any Competent Persons Certifications related to our work is preferred.
Examples would be Confined Space, Fall Protection, and Trench & Excavations.
The ability to read and understand engineer's drawings and crane pick plans.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Outdoor work in construction, demolition, and quarry environments.
Regular exposure to moving equipment, noise, dust, and weather conditions.
Must be able to walk on uneven terrain, climb ladders/stairs, and stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift 30-50 lbs. occasionally.
