We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Accounting Analyst to join our high-volume Global Payments team. In this role you will be responsible for payable related journal entries, reconciling large data sets from multiple systems, KPI reporting, and internal controls.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of accounting principles, analytical tools, and data interpretation to help drive accuracy, visibility, and performance improvements across the AP function. You will also have the opportunity to lead cross-functional testing and documentation initiatives.
This position reports to the Accounting Manager for Global Payments and works closely with cross-functional teams across the organization including Sourcing, Procurement, and Finance.
This job is located at our Global Home Office in Columbus, Ohio.
What Will You Be Doing?
Journal Entries & Month-End Support - prepare and post journal entries related to accounts payable activities, including commission and licensing fees, and other accruals during the monthly close cycle. Ensure proper accrual of all outstanding payables to maintain an accurate depiction of liabilities on the balance sheet
Account Reconciliations - perform month-end reconciliations for AP-related general ledger accounts, ensuring alignment between sub-ledger data and financial systems
Commission & Licensing Accounting- track, validate, and account for commission and licensing transactions in accordance with contract terms and accounting policies
KPI Dashboards & Performance Reporting - develop and maintain dashboards and reports that track AP-related performance metrics, identify trends, and provide actionable insights
Analytics & Ad Hoc Reporting - analyze and report on large volumes of AP data across ERP systems, vendor portals, and invoice management tools and perform root cause analysis and collaborate with relevant departments to prevent recurring discrepancies
Internal Control Documentation - maintain up-to-date documentation of key controls, accounting process flows, and standard operating procedures to ensure compliance and audit readiness
System Testing & Enhancements- participate in system testing (UAT) for accounting-related changes or upgrades, validating data accuracy and process improvements
What Do You Need To Bring?
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related experience
2-4 years of experience in accounting or financial analysis, retail or high-volume consumer goods environment is a plus
Thorough knowledge of accrual-based accounting and month-end financial close procedures
Advanced Excel skills, including creation and use of pivot tables and Excel functions like VLOOKUP to summarize and analyze large data sets
Experience with Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar data visualization platforms
Working knowledge of ERP platforms; experience with Oracle PeopleSoft Finance is strongly preferred
Demonstrated analytical mindset with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to interpret and work with large volumes of data
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively partner across departments
Familiarity with internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) and SOX compliance efforts
