Position Summary

Yakr Pty Ltd is currently seeking a qualified Diagnostic Technician to join the Townsville branch of RGM Maintenance. This is a full-time position classified under ANZSCO 321212 – Diesel Motor Mechanic, ideal for skilled tradespeople with experience diagnosing and repairing heavy diesel vehicles—especially those within the Daimler truck family.

Key Responsibilities

In line with the ANZSCO 321212 classification, duties will include:

Diagnosing mechanical and electronic faults in diesel engines, braking systems, steering, suspension, and transmissions

Disassembling, inspecting, repairing, and reassembling mechanical components on heavy vehicles

Replacing worn or faulty parts and ensuring systems meet manufacturer standards

Performing scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance

Using scan tools and diagnostic software to troubleshoot performance issues

Interpreting technical manuals and completing repair documentation accurately

Ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental, and roadworthiness standards

Providing breakdown support and mobile servicing when required

Candidate Requirements

Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent)

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in diesel diagnostics and repairs

Proven hands-on experience with Mercedes-Benz, Fuso, or Freightliner trucks is essential

Strong diagnostic capabilities and familiarity with scan tools/software

HR or MR driver’s licence (preferred)

Strong awareness of WHS and compliance standards in workshop settings

Ability to work independently and contribute to a collaborative team environment

Reliability and a high level of attention to detail
