Position Overview

Yakr Pty Ltd is recruiting on behalf of RGM Maintenance for a skilled Diagnostic Technician to join their Cairns team. This role is classified under ANZSCO 321212 – Diesel Motor Mechanic and is ideal for a technician with strong diagnostic experience on heavy diesel vehicles, particularly within the Daimler truck range.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

In line with the expectations of ANZSCO 321212, the successful candidate will:

Conduct fault diagnostics on diesel engines and associated systems using OEM diagnostic tools

Perform mechanical repairs, component overhauls, and replacements on heavy vehicles

Carry out routine maintenance and scheduled servicing

Accurately record work performed and interpret technical data and manuals

Ensure repairs are completed to manufacturer and compliance standards

Support field service and breakdown response when required

Follow strict WHS procedures and maintain workshop safety standards

Candidate Profile

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:

Trade qualification – Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent)

Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience in diesel diagnostics and repairs

Strong experience working with Mercedes-Benz, Fuso, or Freightliner vehicles is essential

Proficiency in the use of diagnostic scan tools and fault-finding systems

HR or MR class driver's licence (desirable)

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Ability to work effectively within a team and independently in a dynamic workshop setting
