Engineer I (Campus Maintenance)

The primary accountabilities below are intended to describe the general content and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties.

Description

Under the general supervision of the Executive Director-Campus Maintenance, develops viable system and component concepts and designs based on project requirements and specifications by

applying the concepts associated with engineering. Other duties include supporting the

preparation of technical documents and provide support in the assembly, test, and checkout of

hardware systems. This individual will be involved with the support and administration of

system applications, process review and recommendation, development and implementation

of technical solutions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS TO INCLUDE:

· Manages CMMS system for Facilities Management by keeping an accurate inventory of

equipment and creating and updating preventive maintenance work orders for the

equipment. Designs and develops reports from multiple systems to meet departmental

needs.

· Provides support to facility personnel in the use of the CMMS system.

· Administers and monitors processes and applications to ensure normal operations.

· Assists Senior Engineer and Management with reviewing and checking engineering

design concepts and drawings for adheres to technical specifications and requirements

by using mathematical and other analysis techniques.

· Supports the preparation and development of technical documents.

· Develops viable system and component concepts and designs based on project

requirements and specifications by applying the technical and mathematical concepts,

practices, and procedures associated with engineering.

· Understands the customers and business needs, and applies that knowledge to be

proactive in providing technical solutions.

· Acts in a caring and courteous manner towards all guests, visitors, students

and staff.

· Performs other duties as assigned

Independent Judgement/Problem Solving:

· Performs duties with general supervision, using established procedures. Occasionally uses independent judgement to solve problems and may recommend improvements. Unusual problems are reported to the supervisor.

· Carrier out duties within the scope of University policies and procedures. Analyzes problems, adapts guidelines, and exercise independent judgement within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that impact policies, procedures, and practices, referring exceptions to the supervisor.

Customer Service Relationships:

· Requires basic people skills and civil communication. Forwards complex complaints to the appropriate person.

· Proficient in reporting tools, with experience in managing small to mid-size projects

Annual Salary Range for Offer: $52,555.00 - $65,400.00 (Commensurate with experience & qualifications)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering and one (1) year of related experience required. Work

experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

MVR:

Driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle in performance of University business. Current underwriting guidelines include possession a valid driver’s license, issued in the United States; at least 21 years of age; at least three years of driving experience; maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

PERSONAL:

Must be able to possess the necessary physical requirements, with or without the aid of mechanical devices, to safely perform tasks requiring sitting and staring at a computer screen for extended periods of time, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, kneeling, and extensive walking significant distances between and within buildings on campus.
