Position Summary
The Sr. Structural Engineer plans, develops, and manages projects of all sizes with limited direction. Solicits new clients and maintains current clients through responsive service, experience, expertise, presence, and valued options. Will regularly direct the work of and supervise junior engineers. This position demonstrates leadership in one or more areas of business development, client service management, or technical specialization.
Essential Functions
Develop project scopes/budgets with limited input required from others.
Manages scope, budget, and schedule (without oversight) for many projects or major tasks on various projects.
Leads competitive proposal efforts.
Develop project objectives by reviewing proposals.
Focuses on planning, directing, and reviewing the work of junior engineers and performing higher-level tasks, such as creative solution identification, critical problem solving, etc.
Serves as QA/QC officer.
Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications, and structural reports, especially for critical clients, and/or when high-level experience/judgment is required or when critical to business development.
Work closely with CAD Technicians to complete tasks.
Serve as EOR and review the work of other engineering firms on behalf of clients.
Resolve the majority of conflicts with clients.
Responsible for maintaining Professional Development Hours (PDH) for PE registrations.
Regularly lead and often assist with prospective new client relationship building.
Lead or assist with the development and promotion of new services.
Attend and participate in PJF and client meetings.
Maintain a positive and professional work environment by acting and communicating to get along with clients, co-workers, and management.
Maintain a neat and organized work area that allows efficient access to project information required by other team members.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures in the PJF Employee Policy and Procedure Manual.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to manage various projects.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Thorough understanding of engineering principles, practices, and tools.
Proficient in computer-assisted design (CAD) and other designs, data recording, and analysis software.
Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
Ability to resolve conflicts with clients.
Ability to be both creative and analytical.
Extremely detail-oriented and accurate.
Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited school is required.
Current PE License
At least 8 years of experience

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position directs the technical work of others in frequent project roles and serves as the project QA/QC officer.
