Intro:
Since 1963, Sheakley has been a trusted leader in safety management across industrial, construction, and high-risk environments. We are hiring a Safety Manager for a long-term project supporting construction activities at a process facility in Huron, OH. This is a 2-year 1099 contract ideal for local safety professionals experienced in multi-contractor oversight and process building environments.
The Safety Manager will provide daily field oversight, support OSHA compliance, and lead site safety initiatives for an expansion project involving multiple subcontractors. Initial site-specific training will be provided during the first few days on site.
Compensation:
Rate: $50-$52/hour (based on experience)
Per Diem: Not Provided - Local Candidates Strongly Preferred
Pay Frequency: Weekly
Schedule:
Hours: 40 hours/week
Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Project Scope:
This project involves the construction of an addition to a process building, including:
Daily site walks and subcontractor safety oversight
Toolbox talks and site safety meetings
Completion of daily safety reports and documentation
Enforcement of OSHA 1926 and site-specific safety protocols
Coordination of safety training and initial onboarding for contractors
Qualifications:
OSHA 510 (Required)
5+ years of experience in construction safety oversight
Familiarity with industrial/process environments
Strong communication, hazard identification, and team coordination skills
Ability to manage multiple subcontractors across evolving site conditions
Additional Requirements:
Must be able to pass background check and drug screening
Reliable transportation to and from jobsite
Ability to work independently and maintain consistent documentation
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct and document jobsite inspections
Lead daily toolbox talks and safety briefings
Coordinate safety compliance with trade partners
Track and report corrective actions and near misses
Promote a proactive, zero-incident safety culture
Knowledge Base:
Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1926 Subparts C, D, E, K, M, and P, with an emphasis on multi-contractor environments, industrial building construction, and safety leadership in process-critical facilities.
