The opportunity Are you ready to take the next exciting step in your events career?

We're looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Events and Functions Officer to join our small, vibrant team.

Whether you're early in your career or looking to build on existing experience, this is a fantastic opportunity to grow your skills in a supportive environment.

If you have hands-on involvement in coordinating small to medium-scale events-such as outdoor community events, civic receptions, or formal functions-we'd love to hear from you.

Training and mentoring will be provided to help you succeed.

In this diverse and rewarding role, you'll play a key part in delivering programs funded by the State Government under the Vibrant Streets Program, as well as supporting filming applications in helping Wollongong achieve its 'Film Friendly' accreditation.

You'll also be a vital link between Council and external event organisers, providing concierge-style support to guide them through the approval process and ensure their events run smoothly.

From Council-led initiatives to community celebrations, your work will help shape Wollongong's identity as a major event destination.

Collaboration is at the heart of this role-you'll work closely with internal teams, stakeholders, and event organisers to bring ideas to life and create memorable experiences for our community.

As part of our team, you'll play a key role in bringing people together through memorable events and experiences that celebrate community spirit.

In this role, you'll gain valuable insight into the role Local Government plays in enriching our city, while contributing to Wollongong's growth as a dynamic and inclusive destination.

This is a full-time position three-year term contract.

Flexibility is essential, as you'll be delivering events that may take place on weekends, after hours, and public holidays, based on organisational need and event delivery.

Salary from : $89,651 - $94,897 per annum plus superannuation (Salary package will be assessed based on skills, experience and qualifications) How you'll make a difference In this role you will: Coordinate and deliver a wide range of small to medium community events such as the City of Wollongong Giving Tree and Bikers Toy Run.

Support the coordination and delivery of New Year's Eve and Australia Day Community Events.

Coordinate and deliver a variety of civic receptions and other functions such as the City of Wollongong Awards.

Provide support to groups and organisations looking to hold events in Wollongong.

Facilitate permits and approvals for filming and production on public land Facilitate the event approval process for external events on public land Work closely with key stakeholders and agencies.

About you You're an emerging events professional with experience in coordinating and delivering a variety of events and functions, and you're now ready to take the next step in your career.

You're eager to build on your existing skills, gain deeper insights into event operations, and grow within a supportive and dynamic team environment.

You're physically capable and prepared for the practical demands of event delivery, you approach your work with a strong commitment to safety and an understanding of WHS principles.

You hold a current driver's licence.

You communicate confidently and clearly, building strong relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and the community.

You bring a culturally aware and inclusive mindset to your work, ensuring events reflect and respect the diversity of Wollongong.
