The District Manager (DM) leads the operational effort of Tatte by inspiring, supporting, and helping grow cafes within their district. The District Manager plays a critical leadership role in driving performance across multiple café locations. This leader is responsible for upholding operational excellence, developing strong teams, managing financial performance, and ensuring each café delivers an exceptional guest experience aligned with our brand standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with the ability to coach, influence, and execute across multiple locations. They are a visible presence in the cafés and lead with values that “inspire, care for, and nurture life, every day.”

Scope of Responsibilities (included but not limited to):

Leadership & People Management

Develop, coach, and mentor General Managers and Head Chefs across all cafés.

Reinforce clear performance expectations and hold teams accountable to results.

Communicate consistently and effectively across all levels of the organization.

Address team challenges with professionalism and proactive support.

Identify and develop high-potential talent for future leadership roles.

Responsible for hiring and staffing levels across cafés, including exempt & non-exempt team members.

Lead with and model company values, creating a positive and inclusive team culture. Operational Execution

Ensure consistent execution of daily operations including food quality, service, cleanliness, and hospitality.

Guide café leaders in shift excellence and real-time coaching for team members.

Drive order accuracy, ticket time targets, and food safety compliance.

Partner with managers to build effective daily routines and operational accountability.

Maintain strong café presence through structured visits and ongoing visibility. Financial Acumen

Analyze and act on café-level P&Ls to drive profitability.

Monitor labor spend, adjust schedules proactively, and support accurate forecasting.

Oversee inventory processes and food cost controls to minimize waste and overuse.

Identify and respond to sales trends, performance opportunities, and local dynamics. Strategic Thinking & Problem Solving

Balance day-to-day execution with long-term development of people and business.

Maintain focus under pressure, adjusting priorities based on changing needs.

Use data, café feedback, and operational reporting to guide decisions and improvements.

Set clear goals and ensure alignment and execution across all locations. Collaboration & Influence

Partner cross-functionally with HR, Culinary, Training, and Facilities to support café needs.

Influence and lead without micromanaging, empowering GMs and café leaders to grow.

Ensure follow-through on initiatives and communicate next steps clearly.

Contribute to new café openings, café transitions, and district-wide initiatives Qualifications (what we’re looking for):

Minimum 3–5 years of multi-unit leadership experience in a restaurant, café, or hospitality setting.

Strong understanding of café operations, food and hospitality standards, and team leadership.

Proven ability to manage labor and food cost structures tied to P&L performance.

Track record of developing teams and improving operations across locations.

Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills.

Ability to travel frequently across assigned cafés in the district

Ensures the cafés are optimally staffed with talented managers at all levels and actively recruits, trains, coaches, motivates, develops and mentors a team of managers as café owners.

Demonstrates keen problem-solving skills - able to diagnose and fix all opportunities that arise at the field level – and prioritizes store performance issues to ensure that the most pressing issues are addressed first.

Models authentic, warm guest experience and is responsible for instilling great service in team.

Demonstrates exceptional people performance management skills with the ability to identify talent and develop managers and hourly team members by giving timely, honest and ongoing coaching and feedback through one on ones and performance appraisals.

Drives expert operational practices and standards and leverages existing systems and internal and external best practices as well as develops new processes to drive greater effectiveness and efficiency.

Monitors and manages the business through analysis of metrics and trends across district cafes in order to develop effective means to close gaps between actual performance and company guardrails

Ensures Food Safety at all cafes within district, including all food safe processes and standards, and drives immediate resolution to any deviation from standard.

Interface with cross-functional department partners to ensure seamless communication and coordination of deployments and change management activities.

Creates an environment fostering trust, integrity, respect, initiative, accountability, open communication and teamwork.

Provides expertise on company policies and procedures and immediately address any lapses in compliance with corporate policies or local, state and federal laws. Working Conditions / Essential Functions:

Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs which will include days, nights, weekends and holidays as well as emergency responsiveness as required

Able to work ten hour-plus shifts, plus ability to stand, sit, squat or walk for extended periods of time, walk up and down stairs, and read

Able to grasp, reach overhead, push, lift and carry up to 50 pounds Position Requirements:

3-5 years of multiunit experience managing 4 or more high-volume full service and/or polished fast casual restaurants

Ability to work well under pressure in a feedback-oriented, fast paced, ever changing work environment

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Highly organized with strong attention to detail

High integrity and professionalism

High School education or equivalent Preferred Skills:

Hospitality Education: B.S. in Hospitality Management and/or A.S. Hotel and Restaurant Management

Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook

Previous experience working with UltiPro, Toast - POS System, CrunchTime/TeamworX
