Accounting Manager - Construction

Growing General Contractor is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead its daily accounting operations and support strategic financial decision-making. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills, hands-on experience managing construction accounting functions, and a solid understanding of project based financial reporting. This role reports directly to senior leadership and works cross-functionally with other departments.

Responsibilities:

Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and payroll.

Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes and prepare accurate financial statements.

Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.

Oversee invoicing, contract management, and financial documentation.

Coordinate with external auditors and assist with tax filings and regulatory reporting.

Monitor cash flow, assist with cash forecasting, and support financial planning.

Supervise and develop accounting staff, promoting a high-performing team environment.

Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting systems, and processes.

Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities.

Review and analyze financial data to ensure accuracy and completeness of reporting.

Qualifications:

Bachelorâ s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

5+ years of construction accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.

Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

Proficiency with accounting systems and financial software; strong Excel skills required.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
