Job Title: Senior PLC Programmer

Job Type: Open-ended Contract

Locations: Fenton, MI (primary) & Livonia, MI (commissioning support at Ford Livonia Transmission Plant)

Pay Rate: $45–47/hr + OT

Shift: First Shift

About the Role

We’re looking for three experienced Senior PLC Programmers to join our automation team supporting a mix of retool kits and new station builds for a major automotive client. In this role, you’ll handle programming, start-up, and debugging of equipment at KUKA and at the customer site. Candidates must have deep expertise in PLC programming—especially with Ford Fast 3.7 using TIA Portal and S7 Classic (v5.6)—as well as a solid understanding of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

Key Responsibilities

Interpret mechanical and control drawings to write ladder logic programs to customer specifications

Verify machine hardware build and wiring against prints

Configure and load PLC hardware and software

Debug ladder logic to achieve proper sequence (manual and automatic)

Interface with peripheral equipment and robot programmers to ensure seamless communication

Support system testing, customer buyoffs, and 20-hour runs

Generate and update all necessary documentation, drawings, and backups

Participate in cycle time optimization, commissioning, and troubleshooting

Adhere to safety, quality, and environmental standards

Required Skills & Experience

5–9 years of experience in PLC programming and system commissioning

Strong knowledge of Ford Fast 3.7, Siemens TIA Portal, and S7 Classic (v5.6)

Ability to interpret electrical schematics and mechanical diagrams

Proficient in ladder logic, troubleshooting, and mechanical sequencing

Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with cross-functional teams and customers

Comfortable working on-site and traveling between Livonia and Fenton as needed

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field preferred

Equivalent experience and certifications will be considered

Additional Information

Must be able to lift 25–50 lbs occasionally and work in manufacturing environments

Exposure to moving machinery, electrical equipment, and moderate noise levels is expected
