35% - Software Development

Assist in the development of web forms using programming languages such as JavaScript, XML, CSS, XSL, HTML, or other relevant technologies.

Collaborate with senior developers to design, code, test, and deploy software solutions following established best practices.

Participate in code reviews to ensure high-quality code and adherence to industry standards.30% - Testing and Debugging

Support the testing and debugging of applications and web forms to identify and resolve software issues.

Conduct unit tests and system tests to ensure software meets functional requirements and quality standards.

Document and communicate any issues identified during testing to the IT teammates.20% - System Maintenance and Support

Provide first-level technical support and troubleshooting issues related to software applications, web forms, and related systems.

Assist in updating, maintaining, and optimizing existing software applications to improve functionality and efficiency.

Collaborate with the IT support team to resolve user issues and ensure consistent application performance.10% - Documentation and Process Adherence

Maintain accurate documentation for applications, code, and configurations.

Follow established coding standards, development methodologies, and change management processes.

Participate in technical meetings and contribute to project planning sessions.10% - Professional Development

Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and best practices related to software development.

Participate in training sessions, workshops, and courses as needed to enhance programming skills.5% - Other Duties as Assigned

Position Overview

The IT Assistant Programmer is responsible for supporting the development, maintenance, and improvement of the Perceptive Content (ImageNow) software application for KU Information Technology. This role works closely with senior programmers and other IT professionals to design, code, test, and document software solutions, assisting in the smooth execution of IT projects. The IT Associate Programmer will also assist in troubleshooting, optimizing, and enhancing existing systems, software, and web forms to meet the company’s operational goals and technical requirements.

Due to complex state employment laws, the University of Kansas may be unable to hire fully remote workers for this position outside of Kansas. Specifically, we cannot currently offer employment to candidates residing in the following states: California and Delaware.
