Scope of Position
Accountable for upkeep and maintenance of automated drug devices. Develops and implements plans that have proactive and reactive measures to ensure that devices are operating as efficiently as possible. Manages user database, medication availability, and various reports to ensure compliance with security and targeted financial and inventory goals. Maintains quality to a standard expected of the University Medical Center.
Position Summary
Responsible for leading less experienced staff in the operation and maintenance of more than 200 automated drug devices located in various nursing units and pharmacies throughout the medical center. In addition to the maintenance of these units the Senior Automation Technician is also responsible for the effective utilization and review of quality aspects pertaining to the usage of these units through use of reports and continual upgrades supported by the manufacturers. Acts as a team leader for complex projects, assignments and issues associated with the automated drug devices within the Medical Center.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related fields, and 3-5 years of pharmacy automation experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with database management. Familiarity with: various hardware configurations, software applications, SQL, and file storage systems. Experience in Pharmacy or Pharmacy operations preferred.
