SUMMARY
Will perform machine operations and inspection tasks such as assist in setting up machines, usage of tools, dies and equipment to operate roll forming machines to form material as specified by work order and specific blueprints and diagrams. Load and unload parts on roll machines. Make minor adjustments and perform coil and line changeovers. Responsible for safely operating machines, troubleshooting machines, handling materials, and use of other assigned tools. Ensure a safe and clean environment at all times.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Set up and operate roll forming machine to form longitudinal bends onto sheet metal strips by action of roller dies to fabricate items, such as U-shaped channel.
Positions spindles to align male and female roller dies and adjusts rolls to thickness of metal, using feeler gages.
Set side guides.
Turn knobs to set footage meter and control which stops machine or activates automatic shear when specified length of strips has been run.
Use a crane to lift coils of flat steel onto payoff and threads end into feed roll.
Directs flow of coolant onto rolls or fill oil cups.
Starts machine, observes operation, and verifies dimensions of finished products, using micrometers, gauges and rule.
Ability to verify coolant levels in machine and oil grease moving parts as specified.
Responsible for a working knowledge of: ERP Software/Business Systems, Raw Material Tickets, Work-In-Process/Finished Goods/Inventory Tickets, Set-up Charts, Rework/Defective Parts, End of Shift Paperwork, Understanding of Tool Storage/Staging Operations, Reading Blueprints
Also responsible for the following: assist in the placement of raw material, assist in the removal of parts and packing, cutting parts by hand, where applicable
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to use a micrometer, and a tape measure.
Mechanical aptitude is a must, as well as ability to perform basic mathematical functions.
Experience working in a manufacturing plant environment or similar, including machine set-up, metal working, or welding/fabrication
Ability to perform all essential functions listed above, including regularly lifting of materials
Heavy lifting (up to 60 pounds), bending, and stooping may be required.
Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
Familiar with computer operated equipment.
Ability to work on various machines, and additional departments.
Strong work ethic.
Punctuality is a must.
Possess basic computer skills with the ability to successfully navigate computer software with training
Ability to work shift assigned and overtime as needed
Preferred experience includes roll-forming or welded tube experience, machine set-up, perform part inspections, and reading blueprints
Shift: 3rd Shift Position with training on 1st shift for approximately 3-4 weeks.
Full-time
