Job Description

The primary purpose of this position is to develop and manage established as well as new customers by selling produce and specialty items to achieve sales and profitability goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Sales Strategy: Develop and execute sales strategies to meet or exceed sales targets for your territory. This involves understanding market dynamics, customer needs, and the competitive landscape. Regular updates to management on territory

2. Develop new business: Identify prospective customers by utilizing market intelligence databases, as well as following leads from existing clients and attending trade shows and conferences.

3. Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers such as restaurants, country clubs, hotels, and caterers. This includes understanding their requirements, providing product information, and resolving any issues that arise. Being available to your customers even during “off” hours.

4. Communicate and collect accounts receivable: as necessary, working with the credit department and client.

5. Market Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to identify opportunities for growth. Stay updated on market trends, restaurant openings, restaurant closings, pricing, and competitor activities to adjust strategies accordingly in your territory.

6. Product Knowledge: Have a deep understanding of the produce and specialty items you are selling, including seasonality, quality standards, recent trends and nutritional information. This helps in effectively promoting products and addressing customer inquiries.

7. Logistics and Distribution: Coordinate with logistics, warehouse and distribution teams to ensure timely delivery of products to customers.

8. Reporting and Analytics: Track sales performance metrics, review sales reports, and provide regular updates to management on territory performance.

9. Training and Support: Provide training and support to customers on product features, handling, and storage practices. Setting up vendor meetings with customers to enhance knowledge of the products we carry. This helps in maintaining customer satisfaction and maximizing sales opportunities.

10. Problem Solving: Address any issues or complaints from customers promptly and effectively. This requires strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues.

11. Drive motor vehicle: To visit existing customers, and prospects, to ensure product delivery, which may include lifting/carrying up to 75lbs.

Overall, being an Account Manager for Produce and Specialty sales requires a combination of sales acumen, industry knowledge, and strong interpersonal skills to successfully manage and grow sales within your assigned territory.

Qualifications include:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or 1 YRS. Foodservice sales experience.

Basic pc skills and proficiency with MS Outlook, Excel,

Reside or willing to work geographically within the vicinity of territory.

Valid drivers’ license with a “clean” driving record

Must pass pre-employment testing (Drug Screen, Background Check)

Ability to read, write, speak EnglishCompany Description
