Extended Learning Primary School Nurse
Job Title Extended Learning Primary School Nurse
Reports To School Nurse Manager
FLSA Status Exempt
Work Schedule 3:00 - 6:00 PM School Days
Salary Range $30 - $50 per hour
Job Summary
Reporting to the School Nurse Manager, the Extended Learning Primary School Nurse is responsible for all issues relating to the health and welfare of the Primary School students during their attendance in the Extended Learning Program.
Duties and Responsibilities
? Administer first aid including emergency treatment to students, staff, and visitors as needed.
? Maintain a log of all student visits to the health room through Magnus Health
? Communicate with parents, guardians, and administration any serious accident or illness involving a child during the Extended Learning Program hours.
? Complete incident reports for students or staff as appropriate.
? Advise PS Nurse of any inventory supply needs for the health room and maintain a clean office space.
? Remain current on District of Columbia laws related to school health.
? Communicate with PS Nurse and School Nurse Manager any student health concerns occurring during Extended Learning hours
Duties Related to Medication Administration:
? Maintain OTC and RX medications in an appropriately secure and safe place.
? Safely administer medications to students and staff who become ill during the Extended
Learning Programs, who have been ill and require a course of medication including doses during the Extended Learning hours, or to students who have conditions requiring regular daily medications.
? Maintain an accurate record of date, time, dose, route, and indication for all medications administered through Magnus Health
? Notify parents and/or PS Nurse when students’ medications are low or expired so that they may be replaced.
Qualifications
? A minimum of 1 year of nursing experience is preferred.
? Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse with current DC license is required.
? CPR, AED and First AID certification
Working Conditions
Work primarily in a climate-controlled office environment within a school. Outside at times as well.
Physical Requirements
To perform the duties of this job, the employee must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone; physical agility to lift up to 75 pounds; and to bend, stoop, climb stairs and reach overhead.
