GTM / GA4 Web Analytics Consultant

Link Technologies (LinkTechConsulting.com), a Las Vegas-based IT consulting firm, is currently seeking a GTM / GA4 Web Analytics Consultant to join our team.

JOB SUMMARY

We’re seeking an experienced Google Tag Manager (GTM) Consultant who will lead the configuration and deployment of tracking infrastructure across the website. The consultant will add new properties as custom dimensions within GA4 and ensure tracking accuracy using GTM’s Preview Mode. These efforts will culminate in the delivery of an updated GTM container and tagged event infrastructure.

REQUIRMENTS

Proven experience in the following areas:

Google Tag Manager (GTM)

Container setup and maintenance

Triggers, tags, variables management

Data Layer mapping and reading

Debugging via GTM Preview

Google Analytics 4 (GA4)

Property setup and event modeling

Creating custom events and dimensions

Understanding GA4’s event-based model

DebugView and real-time validation

Web Development Fundamentals

Familiarity with HTML/JavaScript structure

Using browser developer tools (Network tab, Console, etc.)

Knowledge of how tracking data is implemented within websites

Quality Assurance and Testing

Testing tag accuracy and event tracking

Cross-validation between GTM, GA4, and live behavior

Documenting test cases and reporting outcomes

Documentation and Communication

Creating and updating Event Tracking Plans

Writing SOPs for stakeholders

Communicating setups clearly to non-technical teams

Conducting hands-on walkthroughs and training

Analytical and Critical Thinking

Troubleshooting misfiring tags or missing data

Diagnosing discrepancies across platforms

Translating tracking goals into technical requirements

Tools and Technologies

Google Tag Manager

Google Analytics 4

Chrome DevTools, browser developer tools

Spreadsheet tools (e.g. Excel, Google Sheets)

Tag debugging extensions (e.g. Tag Assistant, GA Debugger)

RESPONSIBILITIES

GTM Configuration and Tag Implementation

Create and manage GTM containers with structured triggers, tags, and variables

Align tag logic with the provided Event Tracking Plan

Map Data Layer variables to GA4 custom dimensions

Add new properties as custom dimensions within GA4

Debug tracking accuracy using GTM Preview Mode

Deliverable: Updated GTM container and tagged event infrastructure

Testing and Quality Assurance

Validate proper tag firing behavior using GTM Preview and browser dev tools

Confirm data layer accuracy and flow of properties into GA4 (DebugView + UI validation)

Cross-check GA4 real-time tracking results and configured dimensions

Prepare a systematic QA validation report documenting tests and results

Deliverable: QA Validation Report

Knowledge Transfer and SOP Creation

Lead a walkthrough session to explain the full implementation

Document SOPs for updates, ongoing maintenance, and future scalability

Develop step-by-step materials for non-technical stakeholders

Deliverable: SOP documentation + live training session
