Full Time Welder

$70,000 - $80,000 + Superannuation

Duties and Responsibilities

Tasks of a welder include fabricating, and welding components as required, either through TIG or MIG welding, and using various hand and power tools to complete a task as required by management.

• Follow all safe work practices.

• Use disc grinder to smooth out, weld, or grind parts prior to welding.

• Operate manual and automated welding units and equipment.

• Weld in flat and vertical planes (all position welding).

• Grind or clean weld joint of work piece.

• Repair improperly welded pieces and fill holes.

• Perform both TIG and MIG welding on mild steel, stainless steel and, or aluminium.

• Fabricate new or replacement parts for dump trucks, trailers, and wheel wash unit.

• Tack assemblies together.

• Bind structural and non structural parts.

• Repairs metal surfaces (e.g. sheetmetal, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring safe and efficient use of items.

• Have experience in positional welding, vertical, horizontal, downwards.

• Experience in the ability to read and interpret drawings.

• Does cutting and welding on such machinery and equipment as truck and automobile bodies, piping, pump and engine parts, trailer parts, heavy construction equipment and parts, and similar machinery and apparatus.

• Does flat, vertical, and horizontal welding; brazes, solders, and coats nonferrous metals; inspects, brushes, and grinds welds.

• Maintains and makes minor repairs to welding equipment.

Qualification and Experience

• Minimum 2 years experience in truck body building or similar trade.
