Job Summary:

The Inpatient Coder is responsible for reviewing inpatient medical records and assigning accurate ICD-10-CM, DRG, and PCS codes for diagnoses and procedures. This role plays a vital part in ensuring documentation accuracy, compliance with coding guidelines, and timely reimbursement.

You will work closely with medical staff, including physicians, nurses, and ancillary departments, to clarify documentation and resolve discrepancies. A strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and regulatory requirements is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Review medical charts and documentation to assign ICD-10-CM, DRG, and PCS codes for inpatient cases

Ensure coding is complete, accurate, and compliant with federal guidelines and ethical standards

Communicate with medical staff to clarify diagnoses or procedures and resolve documentation gaps

Stay current on coding system updates, hospital policies, and regulatory changes

Adhere to all policies related to patient confidentiality and data security
