Description
The Engineering Manager will lead the Manufacturing Engineering Team in developing robust, repeatable, and reliable manufacturing processes for aerospace and military products composed of metallic and non-metallic materials (composites and polymers). This role is accountable for both the technical oversight and the professional development of a multidisciplinary engineering team. The Engineering Manager will collaborate closely with Design Engineering to transition new products from development into full-scale production.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a balance of strategic vision and technical expertise. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in manufacturing and design engineering, excellent leadership capabilities, and a passion for building high-performing teams.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop, mentor, and lead a capable and motivated engineering team that approaches challenges with confidence and innovation.
· Foster strong customer relationships and establish long-term partnerships to support business growth.
· Collaborate proactively across departments and corporate entities to drive new development initiatives and continuous improvement.
· Support a culture of accountability, cooperation, and respect within the engineering team and broader organization.
· Provide leadership and hands-on support through all phases of manufacturing—from concept and design through production and delivery.
· Lead structured problem-solving initiatives across manufacturing operations, including vendor development and support.
· Manage Capital Improvement projects, including justification, implementation, and evaluation of new equipment and process upgrades.
· Deliver internal training and technical presentations to share knowledge and align best practices.
Contribute to protecting and developing the company’s intellectual property portfolio.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
· Minimum 7 years of experience in both manufacturing and design engineering roles.
· Proven leadership experience, with the ability to engage and motivate cross-functional teams.
· Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), with the ability to translate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
· Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Preferred:
· Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Epicor), including Bill of Operations (BOO) and Bill of Materials (BOM) management.
· Knowledge of electrical design principles related to heated products and control systems.
· Familiarity with physical and environmental testing standards for polymer and composite materials.
· Hands-on understanding of manufacturing processes for metallic and polymer/composite products.
· Demonstrated innovation and vision in product and process development.
