Assistant Controller & Systems Reporting

General Position Scope:

Support financial operations, reporting, and business intelligence efforts. This role combines accounting expertise with data analytics, leveraging Power BI to create meaningful reports and dashboards for stakeholders across the organization. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in accounting, financial reporting, and ERP systems, along with the ability to extract, analyze, and present data to drive informed business decisions.

This position will be based in Columbus, OH, but will require regular travel to Coldwater, OH which may require overnight stays near Coldwater.

Job Responsibilities:

Assist in managing month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.

Support the Controller in overseeing general ledger activities, financial controls, and compliance with GAAP.

Prepare and analyze financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to provide financial insights to management.

Extract, transform, and analyze financial and operational data from ERP and other information systems to provide real-time insights.

Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards for financial and operational data visualization.

Collaborate with department heads to create customized reports that support business decision-making.

Troubleshoot data discrepancies and work to enhance system integration and reporting capabilities.

Provide training and support to finance and business teams on Power BI and data extraction methods.

Stay current with best practices in data analytics, financial systems, and reporting tools.

Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.

Proficiency in Power BI, including data modeling, and dashboard creation.

Experience working with ERP systems.

Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling).

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills and ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.

Experience with SQL or other data extraction tools is a plus.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field. CPA, CMA, or MBA is a plus.

3+ years of experience in accounting and financial reporting.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
